A victorious weekend at the Sachsenring and the Nürburgring Nordschleife lies behind PROsport Racing.
PROsport Racing has a challenging race weekend behind it. The racing team from Wiesemscheid took part in both the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring and the two six-hour races of the Nürburgring Endurance Series.
At the Sachsenring, the two PROsport Racing drivers Mike David Ortmann and Hugo Sasse took an important step towards defending their title. Last year’s ADAC GT4 Germany title winners were able to win both rounds on the hill-and-dale track near Chemnitz. Thanks to clever tactics, driving skills and good vehicle set-up, the two drivers ultimately prevailed in both races, while many of their rivals had to contend with punctures. Out of six joint ADAC GT4 Germany races with PROsport Racing at the Sachsenring, Ortmann and Sasse were thus able to win five! The two drivers now have a 43-point lead with 50 points still to be awarded at the season finale in six weeks at Hockenheim.
Célia Martin and Fabienne Wohlwend also put in a strong performance at the Sachsenring. After a lot of bad luck in the last races prevented points results for the two drivers, Martin and Wohlwend were able to collect their first points of the 2023 ADAC GT4 Germany season in Sunday’s race in twelfth place. A great redemption for the two fast ladies. On Saturday, the two youngsters Leon Erger and Raphael Rennhofer were also able to collect important points in position eleven.
“Mike and Hugo put in another phenomenal performance this weekend. With the two wins, we’ve taken a big step in the title fight and now travel to Hockenheim with a comfortable lead,” said team boss Christoph Esser. “But we know what can happen in a season finale and we’ll keep working hard until we’ve secured the title. I’m also extremely pleased that Célia and Fabienne were able to score their first points in the ADAC GT4 Germany. The two have worked hard and made huge progress over the course of the season. After a lot of bad luck in the last few races, it was finally enough to score points, which should give them a lot of confidence.”
At the same time, PROsport Racing also took part in the two six-hour races of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. The Aston Martin racing team also scored successes on its home track in the Eifel.
In Saturday’s race, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Maxime Dumarey, Christoph Breuer and newcomer Marek Böckmann finished seventh overall and second in the SP9 Pro-Am class for a long time, but in the final minutes of the race, the car retired after a puncture.
On Sunday, PROsport Racing got its revenge. Böckmann drove to second place on the grid with a lap time of 7:55.280 minutes – the first time the GT3 bolide from Aston Martin took up an NLS race from the front row of the grid. After a flawless race, the driver trio finished third overall after six hours of racing, cruising to their third class victory in the SP9 Pro-Am class in 2023.
In the SP10 class for GT4 cars, Guido Dumarey, Michael Hess and Rudi Adams drove to third position on Saturday. The trio of gentlemen followed up with fourth place on Sunday.
Christoph Esser continues: “Also on the Nordschleife we continued our good performances of the previous season, almost two years of development went in the completely right direction. Seeing our newcomer Marek put the car on the front row of the grid on Sunday made me very proud! In addition, we left another GT3 Aston Martin with a Pro crew and with a factory driver behind us in the race, which is also a symbol of our strong performance. I’m already looking forward to our next race in two weeks. I would also like to thank my entire team. The mechanics and engineers prepared the cars perfectly, as all six cars were able to contest the races without any technical problems. Many thanks for that!”
