PROsport Racing is the first team in the history of the ADAC GT4 Germany to defend its title win.
PROsport Racing made history at the ADAC GT4 Germany season finale in Hockenheim. The team from Wiesemscheid became the first team in the history of the GT4 Championship to defend its title. As in the previous year, Mike David Ortmann and Hugo Sasse won the drivers’ championship.
The successful duo scored solid points in the two races, finishing sixth and third, and were thus able to celebrate their title win early on Saturday evening. After the reigning champions hit the guardrail in the first race of the season at Oschersleben following a collision with a broken tie rod, Sasse and Ortmann finished in the points in all the other eleven races of the season. Sasse and Ortmann claimed a total of four victories this season.
“I think our consistency was crucial to the title,” said team owner Chris Esser. “Even on difficult weekends when we weren’t in contention for the win, Mike and Hugo brought home the maximum points haul. Winning the title just feels great. To be able to provide the first defending ADAC GT4 Germany champions is something very special for the entire PROsport Racing team, to whom I would like to say thank you for the great work this year.”
Raphael Rennhofer and Marek Böckmann also put in a strong performance. The two finished the two races in positions eight and twelve. Austrian youngster Rennhofer thus finished third on the podium in the Junior classification for the first time on Saturday.
Célia Martin and Fabienne Wohlwend were also convincing in Hockenheim. Martin, who lives in Adenau, France, finished tenth on the grid in qualifying on Saturday. In Saturday’s race, the duo finished in 19th position after a spin through no fault of their own. Fabienne Wohlwend was unlucky in qualifying on Sunday. The Lichtensteiner was also on her way to a starting position in the top 10 before qualifying was stopped after an accident. Thus she had to start the race from the back of the field. In the end, the two fast riders finished the race in 22nd place.
Yevgen Sokolovskiy and Damon Surzyshyn finished the two races in the fourth Aston Martin of PROsport on sovereign points positions in the Trophy standings.
“When we look back on the season, we see a strong increase in performance on the three other cars. Be it our two girls, who have made an extremely big leap over the year and were now able to finish in the top 10 in qualifying under their own steam at the end of the season, the drivers of the junior car or our two gentlemen Yevgen and Damon – everyone has improved greatly and pushed their personal limit higher and higher. I am very proud of that! I’ve really enjoyed the year with our drivers and I’m sure that some of them will drive for us again next year and we’ll continue on the path we’ve chosen.”
The 2024 ADAC GT4 Germany season kicks off on the last weekend of April at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. In Wiesemscheid, preparations for the coming racing year are already in full swing at PROsport Racing.
