In the 2023 season, Gabriela Jílková and Célia Martin will form a women’s team for PROsport Racing. The racing team from Wiesemscheid is also expanding its GT4 lineup.
Even before the conclusion of the 2022 season, PROsport Racing has announced the first driver duo for the upcoming GT4 racing year. Gabriela Jílková from the Czech Republic and Frenchwoman Célia Martin, who lives in Adenau, will steer an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of the team from Wiesemscheid. The race series in which the two drivers will compete is still to be decided, with both the ADAC GT4 Germany and the GT4 European Series up for grabs.
Before the seventh round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, Jílková, who thrilled many fans with her maneuvers in 2021 and this year, and Martin, who contested the 12-hour race for PROsport Racing, tested the Vantage GT4 at the Nürburgring. During the extensive testing, both drivers showed good and consistent speed, so the racing team is confident to have a first powerful duo for the 2023 season.
“The test went extremely well,” said team boss Christoph Esser. “Both pilots were very fast on the track and almost exactly the same speed. We are already looking forward to the coming season with the two of them and are confident about the racing year.”
“I have been working on expanding my racing activities beyond the Nürburgring-Nordschleife for some time,” said Célia Martin. “So it’s a great opportunity for me to get this chance with a team like PROsport Racing that has a proven track record in GT4 in Germany and Europe. I am very grateful to Christoph and the entire PROsport team! Having Gabi as a teammate next year is exciting and will give us a strong and unique line-up. Having proven myself in GT4 cars on the world’s toughest race track over the last few years, I’m really looking forward to this new challenge alongside my 2023 Nordschleife program.”
Her partner from the Czech Republic adds, “I’m very excited to be part of the PROsport Racing team in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 program next season. Together we have already completed a GT4 test and an NLS race with the Porsche Cayman. The chemistry is right and so are our goals! For the first time I will have a woman as a teammate. Célia is very fast and together with PROsport we have the potential to achieve everything. Sure, the competition doesn’t sleep, but neither do we!”
In addition, PROsport Racing is expanding its GT4 fleet for the 2023 season. The team from the Eifel region has acquired two more Aston Martin Vantage GT4s. In the future, the racing team will thus be in possession of six GT4s.
“As a result, we don’t have to run the same car in several championships as before, but are thus able to assign cars to one series,” explains Esser. “This is a huge advantage in preparing the entry cars and gives us the opportunity to compete in many series, even if the dates are close together.”
In addition, PROsport Racing is breaking new ground in the winter and will compete in the GT Winter Series organized by Gedlich Racing in Spain and Portugal. In the 2022/2023 season, the race series will feature exactly the same format as the ADAC GT4 Germany and GT4 European Series respectively. Christoph Esser concludes: “This is perfect for us to prepare for the coming season. We can test with potential drivers at our leisure and see them in action under racing conditions.”
