PROsport Racing is repositioning itself for the future

PROsport Racing gives an outlook on the changes in the company and the upcoming racing season.

PROsport Racing has spent several months planning for the future, and now the team can announce far-reaching changes. “As I have already announced several times, I will be handing over the team leadership to a younger generation and will only be available as an advisor in the future. We will be able to announce the new team principal in the coming weeks,” said team principal Chris Esser. “There will also be changes in the company structure, and this makes us very optimistic about the future.”

There are also major changes to the team’s car fleet. The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 era has now definitively come to an end, and PROsport Racing is switching to a Mercedes-AMG brand in this segment. The team will compete with the Mercedes-AMG GT4 Evo in both endurance races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and an attractive GT4 sprint series. “As in previous years, we will use the GT Winter Series to assemble the best driver pairings for the GT4 sprint category, because we naturally want to continue our success in the GT4 segment with Mercedes-AMG.” PROsport Racing can look back on six GT4 championships and countless podium finishes in both endurance and sprint racing.

In the GT3 category, PROsport Racing will also rely on the Affalterbach-based brand starting next season, and a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo is already race-ready in the workshop in Wiesemscheid. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is not new territory for PROsport Racing, as the team from near the Nürburgring won the overall championship of the 24H Series with the car in 2018 and finished on the podium in every race. Specific plans for using the car are currently being evaluated. “We are open to sensible programs with this car,” Esser concluded.

“The decision to switch to AMG wasn’t difficult for us and, in a way, makes perfect sense,” Esser continued. “Over the years, we’ve become very familiar with AMG engines through our work with Aston Martin, and the vehicle concepts are also very similar. We’re really looking forward to racing the AMG cars!”

The two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s, which the team primarily used in the Nürburgring Endurance Series, will remain in the team’s lineup and will return to the Nordschleife in 2026. The fleet will be rounded out by the Porsche Cayman Pro4, which will be used sporadically. Chris Esser: “This is more of an emotional decision, as I’m very attached to the car, and I’m not the only one who associates the Pro4 with many of our team’s motorsport highlights.”

PROsport Racing will announce further details of the team’s racing program at a later date. The successful commitments with PROsport Classic in historic motorsport and with PROsport SimRacing in virtual motorsport will continue unchanged in the coming year.
