Class victory in the first race with the Mercedes-AMG GT4, GT3 debut for Dumarey and three ambitious drivers on a permit course
A week later than planned—but with a bang: PROsport Racing secured the class victory in SP10 with the Mercedes AMG GT4 right in its first outing at the 58th ADAC Barbarossa Prize, the delayed season opener of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Endurance Series.
Jörg Viebahn, Anton Abée, and Yannik Himmels made for a perfect debut. Starting from fourth on the grid, Viebahn pushed the green AMG to the front in a thrilling battle—his teammates Abée and Himmels further extended the lead with fast and flawless stints. A perfect debut for the PROsport trio.
“A huge compliment to Anton, Yannik, and Jörg for the fantastic victory in the Mercedes-AMG GT4. They delivered a flawless performance. And a big thank you to the team for the strong work on the car following an intensive preparation on Friday,” said PROsport Racing Managing Director Marc Hennerici.
The second PROsport outing also made headlines: After years of successful GT4 races, Guido Dumarey made his GT3 debut on the Nordschleife. Together with his son Maxime and the experienced Marek Böckmann, he drove the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to third place in the SP9 Am class—a successful start to a new era.
“The fact that Guido has made the leap to GT3 after all these years makes me
personally happy. It’s also already clear that he’s learning a lot by working with Marek, who is known to be very fast. I’m already looking forward to the next races,” explains Christoph Esser, Senior Advisor at PROsport Racing.
In collaboration with Manheller Motorsport, three drivers who have already enjoyed success in other series also utilized the proven PROsport platform to obtain their Nordschleife permits: Lluc Ibanez, Nil Montserrat, and Guilherme de Oliveira completed all required laps in the BMW 328 and finished the race in fourth place in the VT2 RWD class.
The action continues on April 11 with the 57th ADAC Adenauer Circuit Trophy.
