Chris Esser hands over operational responsibility to Marc Hennerici.
Marc Hennerici will take over as Managing Director of PROsport Racing GmbH on March 1st. Company founder and long-time team principal Chris Esser is handing over the reins at the top of the racing team but will continue to support PROsport Racing.
Marc Hennerici has been active in international motorsport for over three decades and knows the sport from various perspectives – as a driver, team member, organizer, and decision-maker. His motorsport career has taken the 43-year-old to the FIA WTCC, where he won the privateer championship in 2005, and to the FIA GT1 World Championship, driving for numerous international teams. Hennerici has been closely connected to the Nürburgring since birth: his family’s ties to motorsport go back several generations and continue to shape his career.
In addition to his active racing career, Marc Hennerici has also served as Managing Director of ADAC Travel & Event Mittelrhein GmbH. There, he was responsible for the execution and further development of major motorsport and event formats at the Nürburgring, including the ADAC Truck Grand Prix and events surrounding the GT World Challenge Europe. Furthermore, he conceived and established the ADAC SimRacing Expo, a leading international platform in digital motorsport. His profile is complemented by a background in economics.
“I am very pleased that we were able to find a competent successor for me in Marc Hennerici. Marc not only brings the necessary motorsport expertise, but also the required leadership experience and organizational talent,” said team founder Chris Esser. “Of course, it’s not easy for me to hand over my baby, PROsport Racing, but I will continue to support the team as an advisor.”
Marc Hennerici adds: “PROsport Racing stands today on a very solid foundation, which Chris Esser built over many years with great passion and dedication. I have immense respect for this lifetime achievement and look forward to building on this foundation with the team and building ambitious sporting goals for the future. This new role allows me to combine everything that has been with me for almost four decades – my experience in motorsport and the joy of taking on responsibility and actively shaping the sporting and economic development.”
PROsport Racing’s detailed race program for this season will be announced in the coming weeks.
